Curriculum Overview

Designing for the Whole Child

At Pinebrook Montessori Kids Enrichment Center, our curriculum is intentionally designed to support each child’s physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.

We believe children learn best through meaningful, hands-on experiences that encourage curiosity, independence, and confidence. Our teachers carefully prepare the learning environment so children can explore at their own pace, develop strong work habits, and take an active role in their learning.

By following each child’s individual development, we help build a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Core Learning Areas

The Montessori & Enrichment Dimensions

Our thoughtfully prepared classrooms feature beautiful Montessori materials designed to inspire curiosity, encourage exploration, and support every stage of early childhood development.

Our curriculum is organized into eight key areas that work together to provide a well-rounded educational experience:

  • Practical Life: Practical Life activities help children develop independence through everyday experiences. Tasks such as pouring, spooning, food preparation, dressing, cleaning, and caring for the classroom strengthen fine and gross motor skills, coordination, concentration, and confidence while teaching valuable life skills.
  • Sensorial: The sensorial curriculum helps children understand the world through their senses. Specially designed Montessori materials encourage children to observe, compare, classify, and refine their understanding of concepts such as texture, color, shape, weight, dimension, sound and temperature. These experiences build observation skills while preparing children for future learning in mathematics, language, and science.
  • Language: Language development is woven throughout the Montessori classroom. Children build vocabulary through conversation, storytelling, songs, books, and hands-on materials. As they progress, they explore phonics, early reading, print writing, cursive handwriting, and written expression at a pace that matches their individual readiness. Our goal is to help children become confident communicators who enjoy reading, writing, and sharing their ideas.
  • Mathematics: Montessori mathematics introduces abstract concepts through concrete, hands-on materials that children can see and touch. Students explore counting, number recognition, place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and number patterns while developing confidence and a deep understanding of mathematical concepts. Learning through experience helps children develop strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Art/Music: Creativity is an important part of every child’s development. Through painting, drawing, crafts, music, rhythm, movement, and creative exploration, children strengthen fine motor skills, express their ideas, and build confidence. Our focus is on the creative process, encouraging children to experiment, imagine, and enjoy creating.
  • Spanish: Children are introduced to Spanish through songs, stories, games, conversations, and everyday classroom practices. Early exposure to another language helps children build listening skills, confidence, and an appreciation for different cultures in a fun and engaging way.
  • Computer: Technology is introduced in an age-appropriate manner that complements our hands-on Montessori curriculum. Children develop foundational digital literacy skills while learning to use technology as a tool for exploration, creativity, and problem-solving.
  • STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics are naturally integrated into classroom experiences through observation, building activities, simple experiments, and problem-solving challenges.

Children are encouraged to ask questions, explore how things work, test ideas, and develop critical thinking skills that foster curiosity and a love of discovery.
